| Palm Court Lounge to Host 4th Annual Masquerade Ball The Drake Hotel, a symbol of elegance for over 80 years, is hosting their 4th Annual Masquerade Ball. Built in 1920, The Drake was known for throwing luxurious masquerade balls back in its heyday, with masked women primping in evening gowns and masked men donning tailored tuxes. For a taste of Halloween creepiness and to add to ambiance of mystery and history, there is the story of The Drake “Lady In Red”- not to be confused with the woman who proved to be gangster John Dillinger’s undoing at the Biography – who still haunts the 10th Floor. As the story goes, the woman, upon finding her lover getting cozy with another woman at the masquerade ball in the 1920’s, flung herself from the roof-too of the hotel. Over the years, people have claim to have seen this women roaming the halls and members of the staff claimed to have received mysterious calls from a women complaining of loud noise – with the calls being traced to a storage room. Scary stuff, huh? But there’s nothing scary about the latest version of the Masquerade Ball, which the Drake decided to bring back. It truly is a sophisticated alternative to the usual loud, sometimes out of hand, Halloween party scene. Shaun J. Rajah, Special Events Manager of The Palm Court remarks that, “If you are looking for classy way to celebrate Halloween with good food and great music, this would be the ultimate venue.” Event features drink specials, “Vodoo Punch”, dancing floor and a masquerade mask per person. No Cover but 2 drinks minimum applies. Live entertainment will be provided by Barry & The Flat Cats. The Flat Cats play a blend of vintage and modern music which includes the hottest swinging jazz and blues, contemporary classics, and timeless standards. Whether you choose to listen, tap your foot, or cut a rug on the dance floor, you are sure to be entertained!
