DAY ON THE TERRACE IS TALK OF THE TOWN A Day on the Terrace has become a Chicago tradition at the Peninsula Hotel. The annual summer event included lunch, a fashion show, and raffle drawing with all proceeds going to The Service Club which supplement grants established by government or corporate entities. The fashion show showcased the offerings of some of the most prestigious retailers in Chicago. Members of the Service Club and local celebrities walked the runway. As you can see the models were Chicago's finest and the couture selections were also entertaining and outstanding. The career of a fashion designer came into fruition in front of our eyes as each thrilling garment replaced another equally so. The fashions were created by todays designers and also the reminiscent styles of yesterday . The show flowed with anticipation and lunch was accomplished with flair. It was by far the most outstanding event choreographed by outstanding gals. It was my pleasure to provide this review on art and luxury and to share in our appreciation of the famous fashion houses: J. Mendel, LuLu’s at the Belle Kay, Escada, 28 Shop at Macy’s, Luca Luca, Maria Pinto, Contessa Bottega, Dismera, Sylwia (New Chicago Designer), Elizabeth (New Chicago Designer), Starr Couture, Yolanda Lorentte, Loretta Corsetti (hats), Quinton de’Alexanderand 5p-iT. The Service Club of Chicago is a charitable organization of women, which has continually served the welfare, civic, educational and cultural needs of Chicago and surrounding communities since 1890. Their policy of giving is to assist, improve and enlarge upon agency programs. Service Club helps recipients to expand facilities, improve equipment and initiate new programs which will better serve a large number of people. Every single dollar raised goes directly to charity. -Sandra Smith-Doghmi |
