John Kleven
Founder, CEO
John, an entrepreneur by nature, decided to start work on Vinquire in late 2005 after realizing the stunning discrepancy in wine
prices available from retailer to retailer. Often times, buyers can save hundreds of dollars per case by knowing which retailers
are offering the best prices. John created Vinquire with the idea that a free wine search engine should be available to help
consumers find the best prices available. John has a degree in computer engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He
has worked for many high-tech companies including HP and Sony. John also founded and sold his last venture, eCIFS, to a
large networking firm in 2003. John currently resides in San Francisco, CA.

Vinquire.com is the most comprehensive wine search engine on the market. Users consistently find the best wine values on
the internet, even for rare bottles that other search engines simply cannot find. Other wine search engines either limit results
to sponsors, or make users wade through pages of paid-placement wines before showing core results. Vinquire always
displays every result, upfront, regardless of sponsors. Additionally, Vinquire offers unique features not found on other wine
sites:
Local searches enable users to find wines in their neighborhood, immediately available, and avoid shipping costs.
User-submitted reviews, coupled with Vinquire's search engine, enables users to gather information on a wine and find the
best purchasing options.
Wine Search
Vinquire indexes over 900,000 wines and constantly crawls the websites of over 3,500 U.S. wineries and retailers. The
search offers many advanced options for power users, including the ability to limit searches to wines locally available.
Retailer Search
Users can search for wineries and retailers by name or geographic proximity to a particular location. This enables users to
find retailers in their neighborhood, or easily obtain a list of wineries in any appellation.
WineRank
WineRank is a proprietary calculation that Vinquire uses to score the overall community rank of a wine. WineRank is based on
the number of reviews submitted for a wine, discrepancy or similarity between scores, and self-moderation.
Top Ranked Recommendations
Vinquire's customizable wine recommendations can be tailored to match a user’s price range, favorite stores, and varietal.
Vinquire returns recommendations based on WineRank only, and never modifies recommended wines based on site
sponsors.
User Reviews
Users are encouraged to submit wine reviews for any wine they have tasted. These reviews form the core of the
recommendation system and are also stored in users' personal accounts for future reference.
My Vinquire
My Vinquire is a feature that tracks users' wine reviews and forum posts on a personal page. My Vinquire is a great way for
users to remember which wines they enjoyed and which wines they disliked.
